Telkom to expand into Myanmar this year

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) or Telkom plans to set up a company in Myanmar this year. The state-owned enterprise is eyeing mobile and fixed line business in the country.

Telkom Finance Director Honesti Basyir as quoted by Kontan said that the company would soon send a team to analyze business prospects in Myanmar. Up to now talks about the expansion plan has occurred between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Myanmar.

Telkom halts shares buyback

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, stop the company shares buyback program for a while.

Telkom Finance Director Honesti Basyir as quoted by Kontan said that the company halted buyback program conducted since early 2012 when Telkom share price in the range of IDR 9,000. Last time Telkom bought back it shares was in mid-September.

Three state-owned banks disburse IDR 2.5 trillion loan to Mitratel

Jakarta – Three state-owned banks, namely Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia, and Bank Mandiri, have disbursed IDR 2.5 trillion syndicated loan to PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi, or Mitratel, a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM).

Mitratel would use the loan with 8-year maturity period, including a grace period of 12 months, to fund the construction of 3,000 telecommunication towers in 2013, requiring a total investment of IDR 3.4 trillion, Investor Daily reported. The rest of the funding needs for the development of the telecommunication towers will be derived from Mitratel’s internal fund.

Telkom withdraws USD 1.2 billion loans

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, has decided to withdraw bank loans approximately USD 1.2 billion. Proceeds will be used to meet the company’s next year capital expenditure.

Telkom Finance Director Honesty Bashir as quoted by Kontan said that the company would allocate capital expenditure of USD 2 billion next year. As much as 60% of this amount comes from external sources, while the rest comes from internal cash.

Telkom seeks revenue growth of 10%

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, has been eyeing revenue growth of 8% – 10% for 2013.

Telkom President Director Arief Yahya as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia said, the company was optimistic that this year growth target of 6% – 8% could be achieved. Referring to Telkom’s revenue in 2011 amounted to IDR 71.25 trillion, the company’s this year revenue target is around IDR 75.53 trillion – 76.95 trillion.

Telkomsel positively to join 3G bidding

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Seluler, or Telkomsel, a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), has been confirmed to be able to bid for channel 11 and 12 of 3G mobile telecommunications technology despite the bankruptcy status. The 3G bidding is expected to be held in December.

Minister of Communications and Information Tifatul Sembiring claimed to have been working on a regulation allowing Telkomsel to join the bidding despite bankruptcy status, kontan.co.id reported. Sembiring said that he was not afraid of being accused privileging Telkomsel, saying that the case of bankruptcy that befell Telkomsel was yet legally enforceable.

Telkom buys back 5% stake

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, has bought back 1.01 billion shares or 5.01% stake until October 19, 2012.

The public-listed state-owned telecom operator had spent a total of IDR 8.06 trillion, Investor Daily reported. Telkom’s shares buyback program in Indonesia Stock Exchange is divided into four stages.

Telkom posts profit worth IDR 10 trillion

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, throughout the year to September has posted a profit that can be attributed to owners of the parent company amounted to IDR 10 trillion, up 19.27% year-on-year from IDR 8.38 trillion.

Telkom President Director Arief Yahya as quoted by okezone.com said, the increase in profit was primarily driven by the increase in revenue to IDR 56.8 trillion from IDR 52.8 trillion. On the other hand, the company’s expenses increased to IDR 38.1 trillion from IDR 36.65 trillion.

Telkom still looks for partner to work on fiber optic project

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, has looked for Asian telecommunications companies to be its partner to develop business in fiber optic, after canceling a plan to acquire Pacnet Ltd, a Hong Kong-based undersea cable producer.

Telkom Commissioner Jusman Syafii Djamal as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia said, the company was currently exploring opportunities to work with foreign telecommunications companies to expand its business. Such cooperation, he said, could be done through acquisitions and working together as partners.

Telkom acquires IBM’s data center through Telkomsigma

Jakarta – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM), or Telkom, through its subsidiary, PT Sigma Citra Caraka, or Telkomsigma, has acquired IBM’s data center in Sentul, West Java.

Telkom Director of IT Solutions & Strategic Portfolio Indra Utoyo as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia said, the company has mastered the 4,000 square meters of the data center. He said, it was one way in developing the company’s data center business.
